Common questions
I can’t sign in.
Make sure you’re using the same sign-in method — email, Apple, or Google — that you used when you created your account. If you’ve forgotten your password, tap “Forgot password?” on the sign-in screen and we’ll send you a reset link. You can use either your email address or your username to reset.
Can I use the app without an account?
Yes. Tap “Continue without signing in” at the bottom of the sign-in screen. Your data stays on your device in guest mode. If you sign in later to create a real account, your guest data does not migrate automatically — you’ll start fresh in the cloud. This is intentional, to keep the sign-up flow simple, but it means you should think of guest mode as a way to try the app before committing to an account.
How do I share my database with a teammate?
Tap the database chip at the top-left of any tab to open the database switcher. Tap the share icon on the database you want to share, then send an invite by email or copy a share link. Recipients see the shared database alongside their own the next time they open the app.
What’s the difference between sharing a database and sharing an opponent?
Sharing a database gives the recipient ongoing read-only access to every opponent in that database, including any you add later. Sharing an individual opponent sends a one-time copy — the recipient accepts it into their own database and can edit their copy freely. Changes to your original don’t flow through.
Why can’t I log a head-to-head bout in guest mode?
Head-to-head history, tournaments, and sharing features require a cloud account. Guest mode supports opponent profiles, tags, search, and URL-based video links only. Sign in from the Profile screen to unlock the full feature set. (Again, guest data doesn’t migrate when you sign in.)
I’m a coach — can I use this for my students?
Yes. When you create a new database, choose “Coach database” and the app swaps in a student-focused layout: See/Hear learning style, lesson coaches list, strip-coaching notes. The Physical section, tendencies, and action ratings work the same as on a fencer database. There’s more on the coaches page.
I’d like my name removed from someone’s opponent database.
We understand — the app stores information about opponents who aren’t themselves users. If you believe you’ve been listed and want to be removed, please email us with your name, club, weapon, and any identifying detail you can share. We’ll verify and remove or genericize the profile. Full process is described in our privacy policy.
I deleted my account by mistake — can you restore it?
Unfortunately, no. Account deletion permanently removes your databases, opponents, bouts, tags, videos, and friend connections from our backend. Backups are overwritten on a short rolling cycle. If you might come back, it’s safer to just sign out rather than delete.
How do I cancel my Piste IQ Pro subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Piste IQ, then choose Cancel Subscription. Your Pro access remains until the end of the current billing period. You can also reach the same screen from the Profile → Subscription section inside Piste IQ itself.
I subscribed on one device — does Pro work on my other devices?
Yes. As long as the other device is signed in to the same Apple ID, Pro is unlocked everywhere. If you don’t see it, go to Profile → Subscription → Restore Purchases inside the app.
